2 Benefits To Sending Your Child To A Montessori Kindergarten

When your child starts school, you want to make sure that you are giving them the best school experience possible. If their first experiences are good, it will make it easier for your child to continue to have a good experience throughout their entire school career. One thing that you can do to help your child out is to send them to a kindergarten Montessori class. Montessori schools have a lot of benefits for your child.

Child-Centered Learning

The Montessori program puts the child in the middle of everything. The classroom is designed for children, which means that everything is going to be within your child's reach. The furniture in the classroom will also be child-sized. Your child will be in a place that is designed for them to use, explore, and experience. But that's not the only reason that Montessori programs are child-centered. The adults in the classroom are going to let the children learn at their own pace and explore the things that they want to explore. The child is going to guide the teacher toward what they want to learn, instead of the teacher telling the child what they are going to work on and how fast they need to learn.

Cooperative Learning

Most Montessori classrooms are multi-age classrooms, so a room where a kindergarten-aged would fit in might have children a year younger and a year older as well. This has a lot of benefits. One is that the older kids are going to be able to help teach the younger kids through play and exploration. It isn't necessarily a formal lesson style, but the older child and younger child will be cooperating for play and learning. That helps the older child because they are having the lesson reinforced by teaching it, and the younger child gets the knowledge passed down to them in a child-centric manner. The teachers in the classroom will supervise what is happening in the room, but won't intervene unless it is absolutely necessary, because cooperative learning also means how to work with other people, and a Montessori program is a safe space for that to happen.

If you have a child, you want to give them the best start in life and in their education as possible. A Montessori program may be the perfect school option for your child. Check into the Montessori schools in your area to see if there's one that will fit your child.
