That helps the older child because they are having the lesson reinforced by teaching it, and the younger child gets the knowledge passed down to them in a child-centric manner. The teachers in the classroom will supervise what is happening in the room, but won't intervene unless it is absolutely necessary, because cooperative learning also means how to work with other people, and a Montessori program is a safe space for that to happen.
